This year's program awarded one Best in Competition and 34 awards (including honors, merits, and citations) in five categories: Architecture, Interiors, Projects, Urban Design, and Sustainability. All of the winners are listed below, with images highlighting some of the winners.

Each winning project was chosen, per a statement from AIANY, "for its design quality, response to its context and community, program resolution, innovation, thoughtfulness, and technique." Submitted projects did not have to be located in New York City, but in the end 17 of the 35 winners can be found in NYC.

The jury for the AIANY 2020 Design Awards was made up of Kunlé Adeyemi (NLÉ), Dina Griffin (Interactive Design Architects), Gary Hilderbrand (Reed-Hilderbrand), Lisa Iwamoto (IwamotoScott Architecture), Mary Ann Lazarus (Cameron MacAllister Group), Bryan C. Lee Jr. (Colloqate), and Carme Pinós (Estudio Carme Pinós).
