Cristóbal de Moura Sustainable Building Complex

Barcelona, Spain

Adolf Martínez (Barcelona, 1956) and Josep-Lluís Sisternas (Barcelona, 1955) are graduates from the School of Architecture of Barcelona, and are members of the Architects’ Institute of Catalonia (COAC). They have been working in partnership since 1984, and in 2006 they founded MSA+A (Adolf Martínez / Josep Lluís Sisternas, Arquitectes i Associats, SLP) as a step forward in the consolidation of a long-lasting professional relationship with the architects Cristóbal Arrabal, Yolanda Boto, Milena Ibáñez, Antoni Ramis, Juan Pablo Rodríguez and Ignacio Vallet.

MSA+A consists of a team of professionals who are specialized in different elements of project development such as; building projects, cost estimation and management of works, design and calculation of structures and installations, assessing and certifying the sustainability of buildings (BREEAM certification) and both the study and the development of urban planning and management. The team has the necessary means and experience to meet the terms of time, cost, quality and technical capacity required to face projects and construction works.

During thirty years of professional practice, MSA+A has designed many public buildings such as; hotels, schools, social welfare centres, administration buildings and offices. MSA+A has also designed residential buildings (totalling more than five thousand dwellings, most of them subsidized housing), urban masterplans, and public space projects.

Various projects developed by MSA+A over the years have been published in books and professional magazines. They have also been part of exhibitions, and have been awarded prizes and honourable mentions in national and international competitions.
