The conversation took place in May 2019 at the Basel office of Herzog & de Meuron and was released earlier this month, about six weeks before The Architect's Studio: Tatiana Bilbao Estudio, which opens at the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Humlebæk, Denmark, on October 18, 2019. Herzog actually starts the interview by saying he wanted to have a conversation with Bilbao rather than write an essay, hinting at the catalog that will surely accompany the forthcoming exhibition. In the ensuing 40 minutes they discuss collaborative practices, the role of geometry in architecture, Bilbao's position against digital architecture, her efforts creating low-costs social housing, and, among many other things, how formal and informal housing works around Mexico City.

Tatiana Bilbao is the third architect in the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art's "The Architect's Studio" annual series, following Wang Shu - Amateur Architecture Studio in 2017 and Alejandro Aravena - ELEMENTAL last year.
