Biografie tonen

Ricardo Zurita was born in Quito, Ecuador. His family immigrated to the United States, bringing him to New York City where he later attended the prestigious Stuyvesant High School. He then studied at Cornell University, graduating in 1984 with his professional architecture degree. He did graduate studies in Urban Studies at the Graduate School and University Center of CUNY, studying with Richard Wade, the “father of urban history” and Marshall Berman, noted sociologist. He has practiced architecture since 1984 and established his eponymous firm in 2002.

His body of work has been focused on projects that require a multidisciplinary approach where planning, landscape and architectural design issues intersect. He has been recognized for his ability to blend low cost materials and technologies for project types that have traditionally lacked innovative design with contextual sensitivity; and to utilize the unique limitations of each project to create a concept-driven design. He is well regarded for his success in navigating projects through the process of public review; with extensive experience with municipal agencies, planning & design review boards, and advocacy & community groups.
