Urban Entertainment Centre

The railway station Wien Mitte (Vienna Central) lies only seven minutes by foot from the historic centre of the city, St. Stephen's Cathedral. The station itself is a junction of all important local public transport lines. The airport terminal is close by. There is no comparable location so close to the heart of the city. This is where the new centre, Wien Mitte, is to be created: a slab measuring 17.000m² built above the railway tracks on top of which a three-storey urban entertainment centre will be constructed. Five high-rise office blocks will flank one long and one short side of this centre. Together with a further high-rise block to be built a short distance away on Marxer Brücke this ensemble forms a generously dimensioned urban figure that marks present-day Vienna in direct dialogue with the historic core.
