The winning proposal by the team of Pilot Projects Design Collective, Cities4Forests, Wildlife Conservation Society, Grimshaw, and Silman is "mission driven," centered on partnering with a "tropical forest community who will supply sustainably-sourced planks for the rebuilt promenade." They contend that through such an altruistic partnership, "an expansive wooden promenade for pedestrians and bicycles [would] help permanently protect 200,000 acres of precious rain forest." New Yorkers and visitors to the bridge would be able to sponsor individual planks, with the money enabling their purchase and installation while also creating a financial endowment for protecting the proposed location in Guatemala.

Brooklyn Bridge Forest's unique partnership, as well as the numerous design features for pedestrians and bicyclists, are detailed in the 14-minute film below.

Brooklyn Bridge Forest was named the winner in the competition's professional category, while Do Look Down by the team of Shannon Hui, Kwans Kim, and Yujin Kim won the Young Adult category.
